Terpenes are growing in popularity by the day because of how versatile they are. They belong to a family of compounds called aromatics, which are hydrocarbons with unmistakable scents. Various cannabis cultivars – think Banana Kush, or Pineapple Express – contain unique blends of terpenes that create their signature scents and tastes. Terpenes aren’t only found in cannabis, however. For example, Pinene is found in, and smells like pine trees. Linalool comes from lavender and is responsible its relaxing scent. The list goes on and on; there are over 30,000 known terpenes with more to be identified.
Some terpenes growing in popularity include:
We are also able to combine terpenes in blends to mimic how they occur in various cannabis strains.
There are dozens of individual terpenes in our repository, which we can use to replicate many cannabis cultivars as well. We’ve used these ingredients to great effect in emulating some of the most popular recreational cultivars. Scenting skincare products can be accomplished using raw essential oils as well as manufactured fragrances. We focus as much as possible on natural, plant-derived ingredients, so we use essential oils any time we are able. Occasionally, our customers like to provide a customized fragrance to work into an existing formula.
Our cosmetic chemists can prototype different scents and fragrances before incorporating them into full formulas. Creating new fragrances can be one of the most time-consuming processes in product development, which leads many newer brands to begin by using essential oils for scent in their first products. Then, they use the profits from those sales to bankroll fragrance development. Common essential oils for scenting include lavender, peppermint, grapefruit, orange, and sage.
Oftentimes, products can be sufficiently colored with the carrier oils and essential oils that go into them. We strive not to work with artificial coloring agents whenever possible, instead preferring our products to look as natural as they can.
There are popular misconceptions about a product’s color being indicative of how much CBD it contains – darker = stronger, etc. Be careful of this, because it’s far from the truth. You could put no CBD in hempseed oil and the oil would still be very dark, or you could put a lot of CBD in coconut oil and it would still be very light. Color is ultimately for aesthetic value only. Our chemists are experts in making custom Private Label CBD products and blending natural ingredients to achieve your desired outcome.Contact Us to Learn More About Custom Colors
Much like fragrances, flavorings can be accomplished with both essential oils or various natural and artificial blends. For example, mint flavors can be made using organic mint essential oils. This helps maintain a clean, simple, and entirely organic ingredient list.
Sometimes, essential oil use can be counterintuitive and natural flavorings must be used. For example, orange and lemon essential oils are extracted from the rind of the fruit. While you might think they would taste pleasant and fruity, the scent is spot-on but they taste bitter like peels. This is a great opportunity to use natural flavorings to achieve pleasant tastes.
More unique and complex flavors begin to rely on artificial flavoring. Some examples include Marshmallow, Rainbow Candy, or Cookies and Cream. Keeping in line with our goal of using as many natural ingredients as possible, we do not stock artificial flavorings under normal circumstances. However, we are more than willing to incorporate these into custom CBD products at your request.
Private Label CBD uses a manufacturer to create customized product with your label on it. With this approach, you can sell a bespoke product line that appears as if it belongs to your brand the whole time. This saves you the start-up costs and expenses associated with owning a manufacturing facility.
The biggest benefit of private labeling is being able to sell your own product without advertising for another brand. This gives you added uniqueness in the market and allows you to build a deeper relationship with your customers.
Terpenes are similar to essential oils in that they have a distinct, potent scent and flavor. The benefits of these compounds are numerous. We have chemists on staff who can help custom formulate products containing many of these beneficial terpenes.
We can assist with all aspects of product design, from developing custom formulas all the way through designing unique, display-conscious packaging for your brand. Once you’re happy with the way your product appears, it gets sent to one of our manufacturing partners for production.
